Fundraising

Our 2004/5 Appeal launched by the Chairman of Trustees, Mr. Marshall Pennington contained a Wish List of various Items and ongoing Projects at Bakers' Villas, Epping. It was hoped that by breaking down our Appeal in this way, the Industry would feel the value of their donation and be able to identify a tangible item that would really benefit the Residents at Bakers' Villas. This method of fundraising has been very successful and in the 2009/10 financial year so much has been achieved on our original Wish List, although more still needs to be done (see update below). Government legislation due to come into force in 2010 (The Decent Homes Act), meant that any kitchens over 20 years old have to be updated and all dwellings must be fitted with modern energy efficient windows.

Baking Awards Dinner

The Clerk to the Society, Suzanne Pitts and Office Manager Sue Aley attended the Baking Awards dinner at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in September. This year's event had a jazz theme and around £4600 was raised on a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Edwardian Breakfast

In April, Laser organised another very successful Edwardian Breakfast and once again raised more than £1000.

During difficult times for the industry, the Society is grateful for the support and the hard work in organising these events.
